New Cruise Ship Takes you from Downtown Toledo to Put In Bay

Coming very soon to the banks of the Maumee River – a new vessel to take you on the Maumee River, Lake Erie, Lake Erie Islands and cities like Cleveland and Detroit. J & M Cruise Lines, owner and operator of the Sandpiper Boat and Water Street Taxi & Tours, have invested in our city once again and are bringing the Glass City Pearl to our waterways.

Cruises aboard the new Glass City Pearl will be a mixture of public and private. Tickets for public cruises will be available online through their website for destinations like Put-In-Bay, Lake Erie (lighthouse cruises and dinner cruises), Detroit and Cleveland. Private chartered cruises will also be available for weddings, birthday parties, private corporate groups, church groups, conventions, fishing charters, birding groups, etc.

The Glass City Pearl is currently making her way to Toledo from Niantic, Connecticut, where she was used as a party boat. The vessel will transit through the St. Lawrence Seaway, then to Lake Ontario, through the Welland Canal and finally through Lake Erie. Once here in Toledo, the ship will be inspected by the Coast Guard. The Pearl will be docked behind One SeaGate.

The Glass City Pearl is 65' long and 20’ wide, with glass windows on all sides. The current capacity is 105 passengers, with the possibility of more after the stability findings of fresh water, as the vessel was previously used in salt water. The boat can travel up to around 17 knots, or 18-20 mph.

Voyages on the Glass City Pearl from downtown Toledo will be available beginning in early June.

The Water Street Taxi & Tours will be available after Memorial Day.

J & M Cruise Lines also manages the docks at Promenade Park during concerts and special events. Those wishing to reserve a slip for the concert series will be able to do so online. The reservations will open in conjunction with the press conference announcing the line up on Monday, April 4.

A Media Day will be held in the future once the Glass City Pearl has passed Coast Guard inspection.
