Explore downtown with the Arts Commission's Art in Public Places Field Guide

With warmer weather approaching, we know you’ll be itching to get outside. What better way to do that than with a copy of The Arts Commission new Art in Public Places Field Guide. This guide features artworks from the City of Toledo’s One Percent for Art collection, which is administered by The Arts Commission through its Art in Public Places committee. There are also several works from other collections in Northwest Ohio.

 

With many of the projects located in and around downtown – it will act as the perfect walking tour. The guide is divided into zones, so you can tackle the whole guide all at once or in pieces. Zones 1-5 include projects in or on the fringes of downtown.

The Arts Commission is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 1959 to foster Toledo’s heritage in the arts. The organization is the longest-standing arts commission in the state of Ohio, serving youth, artists, arts organizations, and the general public. Since 1977, The Arts Commission has managed the City of Toledo’s One Percent for Art program, the first in the state of Ohio and among the first in the nation, and maintains Toledo’s impressive collection of public art.
